Labour axed more than 5,000 Post Offices and left many more struggling to survive during their thirteen years in power. Making a real difference Now, thanks to the Liberal Democrats in Government, there will be no more Post Office closure programmes. £1.3 billion will be spent over the next four years improving and modernising our Post Offices. That’s more than double the money that Labour spent when they were in power. Colin Green said, “Thanks to the Lib Dems, Post Offices will have shorter queues and longer opening hours. Most importantly, there will be no repeat of the disastrous closure programmes that happened when Labour were in office.”
